253 MA Sheets & Plates is a grade of stainless steel alloy that combines excellent service properties with the ease of fabrication at high temperatures, thus simplifying many industrial tasks. This is highly resistant to oxidation, reported at temperatures as high as 1150 degrees Celsius, and far exceeds grades having sulfur, nitrogen, and carbon. Also, 2111HTR is a proprietary designation included in MA sheets and plates. This grade has an austenitic structure, well organized, providing excellent toughness, even at cryogenic temperatures. Flat-rolled products can specify the properties of 253 MA sheets. While not explicitly designed for resistance to aqueous corrosion, the high chromium and nitrogen content gives pitting resistance comparable to 316. The high carbon content may also increase susceptibility for service exposure or when needed for welding.
